I only see 20 school conferences as message board talking points

In the end they are simply too cumbersome to operate, unless something fundamentally changes with the way college sports are operated.

Me? I'd bet that in 25 years P5 contracts to about 35-40 schools instead of expanding to 80+ schools. The cut will be based on which schools are best funded, and best embrace a laissez faire attitude towards recruiting and amateurism.

The split from G5 is already happening - Sunbelt and CUSA schools get about $250K/yr in TV revenue - about the salary of an average VT football position coach. G5 schools can't keep up, and some P5 schools will go Suwanee/Chicago and decide they don't want to try.
